Data partnerships
A data partnership starts by understanding existing operational records, their permitted uses and whether their structure fits a research need. An assessment does not promise a buyer, price or sale.
What may be useful
Operational records can preserve a task, the information available at the time, the decisions taken and what happened next. Examples include connected support messages and resolution notes, documents and revisions, or transaction records and reconciliation steps. These are illustrative categories, not a request to share material without permission.
Linked records often explain more than isolated rows. Stable identifiers, timestamps and the relationship between an input, action and result help a reviewer understand the process. Existing exports are a practical starting point; you should not recreate records that your systems do not retain.
How a first assessment works
Begin with a general inventory. Identify source systems, record types, available date ranges, approximate volumes and whether updates can be supplied. Separate known exclusions from permissions that still need checking.
If there is a fit, agree a limited sample, access and transfer arrangements before sharing. The sample helps establish what a broader transfer could contain and which preparation would be necessary. Review of that sample is not approval for downstream delivery.
Ownership and commercial terms
Your original records remain yours. Any licence must define the buyer and permitted use, applicable duration and any exclusivity, retention or deletion terms. Commercial variables depend on the actual records, restrictions, preparation work and buyer requirements. No standard price is implied here.
Before delivery, the prepared package and intended use require the agreed review and approval. Records that cannot be appropriately prepared should remain excluded. Ask about ongoing updates only where you can support them within the agreed rights and operational process.
